The Saints of Vraja

Retail Price: Rs.550.00

Vrindavana has always been a sacred site for Vaishnavas. Since the time of Lord Chaitanya and His followers, who rediscovered many sacred sites in and around Vrindavana in the sixteenth century, Gaudiya Vaishnavas have lived, taught, and worshiped in this sacred land.

This book chronicles the lives of dozens of Vaishnavas who have lived in Vrindavana over the last two and a half centuries. These devotees spent their lives in service to Krishna and His devotees. Some of the devotees are well known; for others there is only a brief account of their lives. Yet each can offer inspiration in devotional service.

The information for these biographies was mainly drawn from the suchaka-kirtanas of each person. Suchaka-kirtanas are summary accounts of the life of a devotee recorded by their followers in Bengali verses to be sung according to the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition at the time of celebration of their death anniversary every year.

The biographies are not arranged in strict chronological order because in most cases the exact dates of birth are death are unknown.

Hardbound, 466 pages, glossary, dust-jacket, 5.5" x 8.5". Printed in India.
